MEET OUR DIRECTORS AND STAFF

Chris Glover, one of the founders and co-directors of Circus Arts Camp, is a dedicated, versatile instructor with more than 20 years of experience in teaching dance, yoga, acrobatics, gymnastics and circus skills, from the pre-school through adult levels. During her early jazz and modern studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York, she danced professionally with the Louis Falco Company and Midi Garth among others. She has both trained and performed with the Big Apple Circus, and has appeared throughout the United States and Canada in  circuses, clubs, fairs, and television. Certified in the               instruction of a broad range of circus skills                 beyond her own specialty of aerial acrobatics and               equilibristics, she is also a popular instructor of         Hatha Yoga and allied arts in the Westchester area, and the co-creator of the Corporate Circus motivational workshop program for executives and their staffs.

George Orosz is a graduate of the comprehensive seven-year course at Budapest School for Ballet & Circus Arts. Since leaving Hungary he has been a juggler in Japan, an instructor for the Big Apple Circus in New York, a teeterboard performer with the Charles Troupe in France, a performer with Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus “Red Unit,” the creator of the Big Top 92 program at 92nd Street Y in New York City, a clown in myriad locations, and an instructor/director of Circus Arts Camp since its inception, to name just a few of his international performance and teaching credits over the past two decades. As one of CAC’s founders and directors, he has been instrumental in the successful development of a curriculum that instills body awareness, promotes teamwork and trust, and encourages fun.

Philippe Vercruyssen

Philippe Vercruyssen is a graduate of the National School of Circus and Mime in his native country of France, where he studied tumbling, aerial acrobatics, and circus rigging. While performing in New York at La Mama Theater, he joined the Big Apple Circus, and later began the Circus Arts Center in Hoboken, New Jersey. As a trapeze aerialist he has performed in circuses, clubs, casinos and events around the globe. Now an ETCP professional rigger and a CMC Rope Rescue technician, his talents are tapped regularly by Cirque du Soleil, Big Apple Circus, Broadway productions, and special events such as the reopening gala at Grand Central Terminal, where he designed and supervised the aerial rigging as well as performed on the trapeze. Together with his wife, Chris Glover, he is co-founder of the Circus Arts Camp and Corporate Circus programs. He teaches trapeze to professionals and amateurs alike, when he is not traveling the world as “the rigger's rigger.”

The Circus Arts Camp Staff comprises professional educators and coaches, many of whom are grad-uates of the world’s best circus schools and gym-nastics programs, and all of whom are experienced in working with children. They return to us each summer to impart their special skills to our Circus Arts Campers, helping them refine their technique and performance, and applauding them all in their final gigantic human pyramid at the end of each session. Several of our teachers have been with us for many years, assisting us in crafting the curriculum that achieves success and a fabulous camp experience for every camper.
